Prima School of Dancing is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels.
Prima offers curriculum level-based classes beginning at age 3.5 (preschool) through high school. Our offerings range from traditional ballet, tap, and jazz, to hip hop, lyrical, acro, tumbling, modern dance and more. Ballet and tap are available for adults.
Classes typically begin in September and conclude with our annual recital in May. Special summer programs are offered for all ages.
The Training Group is Prima’s premiere performance group. It is dedicated to enriching its members’ dance experiences through a variety of performance opportunities designed to educate and inspire individuals in the community by exposing them to the art of dance. The group is available for booking at local events.
The Prima Company is Prima’s premiere competition team. It is made up of various teams that attend dance workshops and competitions in Rapid City and the surrounding area, providing these highly dedicated students with an opportunity to push their technique, choreography, and performance to a higher level.
Private lessons are dependent upon studio availability and instructors’ schedules. Prices for Prima students are $35 for ½ hour, $45 for 45 minutes and $55 for 1 hour. Students not enrolled at Prima must call for pricing.

Prices are based on the length of dance and the time it takes to teach the choreography.
All choreography created by Prima School of Dancing belongs to Prima and may not be used unless the director gives permission.
